The following board members were elected by the 2014 TS BA Delegate Assembly to lead the Association in 2015. Congratulations to our new officers and special thanks for their commitment to stand up and be counted as supporters of the school boards and students of Tennessee. Susan Lodal - President Susan Lodal served as the 2014 TSBA President-Elect, was the 2013 TSBA Vice President, was the 2012 TSBA Treasurer, has been a member of the Kingsport Board of Education since 2003 and served as 2004-2008,2013-2015 Vice President and 2008-2010 President. Susan has achieved Level V/Master Board Member status in the TSBA Boardsmanship Program, was named the Tennessee School Board Member of the Year/C. Hal Henard Distinguished Service Award Winner for 2010, received theTSBA Scholars Circle Award in 2014, and has received the NSBA Distinguished Service Award three times (2007,2010,2012). Susan served as an At-Large Member (Chair of the TLN Board) on theTSBA Board of Directors in 2007 and 2008 after being involved with theTLN through various positions since 2003 and serving on the Kingsport Area Chamber Legislative Affairs Committee since 2004. Susan holds a B. S. Degree in Medical Technology from Purdue University. In her community, she also volunteers in the Waverly Road Presbyterian Church Food Pantry and as a long-time volunteer tutor in two elementary schools. Susan is married to Peter and they have three grown children: Erik,Nicholas, Genevieve and 7 grandchildren. Debbie Shedden - President-Elect Debbie Shedden served as the 2014 TSBA Vice-President and the 2013 TSBA Treasurer. She was also the Northeast District Director for TSBA from 2011-2012. Debbie has served on the Hawkins County Board of Education since 2008, as well as being the Tennessee Legislative Network representative and the TSBA Federal Relations Network District Coordinator for her local board. She was a TSBA GASB 45 Trustee from 2009-2012, and has served on the TLN Board of Directors. She has worked as a SCOPE Group Leader, and written articles for the TSBA Journal. Debbie has achieved the Level V/Master Board Member status in the TSBA Boardsmanship Program, and was named to the All Tennessee School Board in 2011, as well as being named the recipient of the Tennessee School Board Member of the Year/C. Hal Henard Distinguished Service Award also in 2011. She received the Premier Ambassador Award from TSBA in 2013 and 2014. She is currently the Secretary of the Rogersville Rotary Club, the Rotary Presidential Nominee for 2017, and was named a Paul Harris Fellow in 2014. She is an active sponsor for the local Interact Club, and works with the Student Board Representatives for her local board. She is a former President of the American Heart Association, and has served on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Debbie and her husband, Bill, have two daughters, and one granddaughter. Wayne Blair - Vice-President Wayne Blair served as the 2014 TSBA Treasurer and has served on the Rutherford County Board of Education since 2006. He currently serves as board chairman and has served as vice chairman since 2012 and also in 2007-2008. He is a level V Master School Board Member in the TSBA Boardsmanship Program. Wayne was an At-Large Member on the TSBA Board of Directors in 2009-2010 and has served on the Tennessee Legislative Network, Federal Relations Network, and as a TSBA Ambassador since 2008. He served on the School Board Academy Advisory Committee in 2010 and is a current member of the Tennessee Legislative Action Committee. He served on the selection committee to evaluate for Boards of Distinction in 2012. Wayne has attended many NSBA functions and has received the NSBA Distinguished Service Award in 2008 and again, in 2011. He is a member of the Read to Succeed Executive Board, Past President of both the LaVergne and Smyrna Rotary Clubs and Past PTO President at three different schools. Wayne is an active member of the Rutherford County community. He earned his criminal justice degree from Middle Tennessee State University and has two children, Zack and Hilary. Faye Heatherly - Treasurer Faye Heatherly served on the Campbell County Board from 2000-2010 and was re-elected in 2014. She has served as Board Chairman in 2008 and Vice Chair in 2007. She served as the TSBA President-Elect in 2010, TSBA Vice President in 2009, East District Director from 2004-2010 and At-Large Member in 2003. Faye received the National School Boards Association Distinguished Service Award in 2007. She is a Level V/Master School Board Member and was named to the All TN School Board in 2005. She has served on the Tennessee Legislative Network and the Federal Relations Network. She has also served as PTA President and Secretary and is a former member of the LaFollette Business and Professional Women's Organization, where she served as President for two terms and was given the "Woman of the Year" award. Faye, with her late husband, Rev. Paul Heatherly, has four children, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Carolyn Holt-Clawson - Immediate Past President Carolyn Holt-Clawson served as the 2014 TSBA President., the 2013 President-Elect, 2012 Vice-President, and 2011 Treasurer. She has been a member of the Hamblen County Board of Education since 1998. In 2014, she received the Tennessee School Board Member of the Year/C. Hal Henard Distinguished Service Award. In 2012 and 2003, her Board was named Tennessee School Board of the Year. Carolyn was named to the All Tennessee School Board in 2003. She is a Level V/ Master School Board Member and has received the Scholars Circle award in the TSBA Boardsmanship Program. She is a Platinum TSBA Ambassador for Education. She has served the Hamblen County Board as its Chair, Vice-Chair, a member of the Policy and Safety Committee and has been the board designee for the local education foundation, HC*Excel. Having earned a M.S. and B.S. Degrees from the University of Tennessee, she is a registered, licensed dietitian for Sodexo, Inc. She is a former recipient of the Tennessee Outstanding Dietitian of the Year Award, a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and recently served on the Executive Board of the School Nutrition Services Dietetic Practice Group. Carolyn is the wife of Hamblen County Register of Deeds, Jim Clawson and they are the parents of a son, Matthew Franklin Holt, a senior at East Tennessee State University, and James and Emily Clawson of Knoxville, Tennessee. Lynne Fugate, Knox County - At-Large Member Lynne Fugate serves as TSBA At-Large Member and has served on the Knox County Board of Education since 2010. She served as chairman in 2013-2014 and vice chairman in 2012-2013. She currently serves on the Executive Committee for the Knoxville Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Drug Commission, and as the Vice President for the Holston Conference Foundation. Lynne is also a member of the Executive Women's Association, Leadership Knoxville Class of 2000, East Tennessee Regional Leadership Class of 2004, and Junior League of Knoxville. She has served on various other boards and received many awards for her outstanding leadership and community service. She has her B.S. degree in Business Administration/Finance from UT. For twenty-five years, she has been a banker and is currently serving as the Knox County Market Executive for SmartBank. She and her husband, Scott, have two sons, Henley and Patrick. Jimmie Garland, Clarksville-Montgomery County - At-Large Member Jimmie Garland serves as TSBA At-Large Member. He has been a member of the Clarksville/Montgomery County Board of Education since 2001. He serves as the current board chairman, and also served in this capacity from 2010-2011. Other boards for which he has served are: President of the Clarksville Branch NAACP 5582 from 2001-Present; Vice President of the TN State Conference NAACP from 2006-Present; and Clarksville Big Brother Big Sister from 2001-2006 and as chairman in 2006. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from Bethel University. Jimmie retired from the U.S. Amy at the rank of Chief Warrant Office 4, after twenty-nine years of service. He and his wife, Reverend Jane Garland have three grown children and six grandchildren. Amy Heckethorn, Dyersburg - At-Large Member Amy Heckethorn serves as TSBA At-Large Member. She has served on the Dyersburg Board of Education since 2005, and formerly served from 1992-2001. She served as chairman from 2010-2014 and vice chairman from 2006-2010. She was a member of the 2009 All Tennessee School Board. Amy received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and serves as a farm manager and homemaker. She and her husband, Patrick, are former owners of Heckethorn Products, Inc. They have four grown children and two grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and skiing. Kevin Woods, Shelby County - At-Large Member Kevin Woods is serving his second term as TSBA At-Large Member. He served as the Director of Career Development with New Horizons where he worked for 12 years. He has been a two-time recipient of The President s Club -- the highest accomplishment for any consultant with New Horizons. He was recently appointed as the Executive Director of Workforce Investment Networks, where he and his colleagues assist Memphis, Shelby County, and Fayette County with improving employment opportunities for its citizens. He received a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and a master's degree in Business, both from the University of Memphis. As a husband and father of two girls, he is committed to his community, where he sits on his Homeowners Association Board; he raises funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and supports community involvement initiatives through his affiliation with Memphis Alumni Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, where he is an active member. He currently serves as Vice-Chair of Shelby County School Board and is also the immediate past-president. He is a graduate of New Memphis Institute (A13 Class), Leadership Memphis Executive Class (2014), and was named a Memphis Business Journal Top 40 Under 40 recipient.
