FOUNDATION NEWS: Volume 13 Issue 2 PAGE 1 FOUNDATION NEWS Volume 14 Issue 1 | Winter 2016 American College of Surgeons/PTSF Partnership Beginning in 2015 the ACS and PTSF have been engaged in in discussions to form a partnership that will support Performance Improvement in Pennsylvania and nationally. The following is a summary of our most recent efforts and the agreed upon deliverables from both parties: Pennsylvania Trauma Center TQIP Survey: A survey was conducted by PTSF in collaboration with the ACS to assess TQIP utilization, benefits, value and questions. This was shared with the ACS to enhance TQIP educational efforts. • Pennsylvania TQIP Education: Two plenary presentations and a luncheon question/answer session were conducted at the PaCOT/ PTSF 2015 fall conference. Trial use of new TQIP Driller: The ACS agreed to offer the statewide TQIP Driller software to PTSF staff for a free trial upon its release. Additionally they offered several PA trauma centers the opportunity to trial the hospital based TQIP driller. (Three centers and PTSF trialed the product December 15-22, 2015). (Continued on page 1) Board Officers Approved for 2016 The following board members were approved for officer positions in 2016: Chairman—William Hoff, MD, FACS, board representative for the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Dr. Hoff is the Chief for the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at St. Luke’s University Health System in Bethlehem, PA. He previously served as Vice Chairman; his service to the board began in 2008. Vice Chairman—Patrick Reilly, MD, FCCP, FACS, board representative for the Pennsylvania Medical Society. Dr. Reilly is the Chief for the Division of Traumatology, Surgical Critical Care and Emergency Services for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. His service to the board began in 2010. Secretary/Treasurer—Philip E. Pandolph, board representative for the Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania. Mr. Pandolph is the Chief Executive Officer for Meadville Medical Center in Meadville, PA. American College of Surgeons/PTSF Partnership

Beginning in 2015 the ACS and PTSF have been engaged in in discussions to form a partnership that will support Performance Improvement in Pennsylvania and nationally. The following is a summary of our most recent efforts and the agreed upon deliverables from both parties:

Pennsylvania Trauma Center TQIP Survey: A survey was conducted by PTSF in collaboration with the ACS to assess TQIP utilization, benefits, value and questions. This was shared with the ACS to enhance TQIP educational efforts.

• Pennsylvania TQIP Education: Two plenary presentations and a luncheon question/answer session were conducted at the PaCOT/ PTSF 2015 fall conference.

• Trial use of new TQIP Driller: The ACS agreed to offer the statewide TQIP Driller software to PTSF staff for a free trial upon its release. Additionally they offered several PA trauma centers the opportunity to trial the hospital based TQIP driller. (Three centers and PTSF trialed the product December 15-22, 2015).

• ACS Performance Improvement Committee membership: The ACS revised its membership criteria to include staff members at non-ACS verified trauma centers and state agencies. PTSF PI Specialist Terry Snavely has been approved to serve on the committee.

As a result of these discussions and efforts, the PTSF Board of Directors voted on December 3, 2015 to proceed with the establishement of a Pennsylvania State TQIP Collaborative.
