Edwards School of Medicine , our research enterprise continues to make strides in both basic science and clinical and translational ndings. E orts are focused on supporting initiatives that a ect the health of West Virginians and those in central Appalachia, including exploration in obesity-related disorders, toxicology, immunology, cancer, and chronic kidney disease. Our extramural funded research projects are facilitated through several centers that provide vital networks for scientic discovery at Marshall and across the state. • Appalachian Clinical and Translational Science Institute , coordinates clinical and translational research activities throughout the university and with community health partners. • Marshall Institute for Interdisciplinary Research , advancing economic development through entrepreneurship and commercialization of scientic discoveries. • Appalachian Center for Cellular Transport in Obesity-Related Disorders , an organizational entity geared to become a national center of excellence focused on cellular transport abnormalities in obesity-related disorders.
